Super hot weather, great racing and lots of fun for all. The 2010 All American Soap Box Derby in Tallahassee was a great success. After the races all meet at the Marzuq Shrine Center for the awards banquet. The racers got to the track at 6:30am to get their cars together. Then Neal had a drivers meeting followed by photos. Then the racing got started. Some of the best racing of the year happened. The Masters came down to Kelsie Moore and Sierra Robinson, with Kelsie coming out the winner. Brandi Byers and Arryn Evans competed for the win in the Super Stock Division and this was the closest race of the day with Arryn winning by .001 seconds. What a race. Then the Stock Division came down to Hunter Chentnik and Josh Schneider, with Hunter winning his first race. Then there was the Super Kids race, which is the best race of the day. It is great to watch these children that normally would not be able to race to come out and have fun in the race cars with someone else driving. The Super Kids were represented by Jessie Birschbach and Madison Woodward. This year Madison will represent Tallahassee Region Soap Box Derby at Akron for the Super Kids race at Derby Park in July.
After a great day of racing it was time for the Awards Banquet at Marzuq Shrine Center. A really nice dinner and get awards to present. The night started with a nice dinner and dessert, followed by the awards and presentations. The awards were presented by Race Director Neal Davis. The awards with Best Looking Car trophy for each division. The trophies were presented to Savannah Watson in Master, Brandi Byers in the Supers and the Stock division was split between two cars, Harrison Boswell and Morgan Miller. Next award was for Sportsmanship which was presented to Savannah for Masters, Julianne Salancy for Supers and Madison Campbell for the Sock division. Following these awards there was a special presentation made to a very special person and super hard worker (volunteer). The Jerry Grice Memorial was presented to Nancy Davis by the Grice family for all of her work . Then all of the trophies for all of the kids who raced in this great event. All of the trophies were sponsored by Summit East Investors Group. Special Thanks to them. Great fun was had by all.
